IGS Energy partnered with the Chicago Bears and Chicago Gateway Green for the Save Da Planet sustainability event that took place at Southside Occupational Academy High School.
Chicago, Illinois, June 12, 2018 – IGS Energy partnered with the Chicago Bears and Chicago Gateway Green for the Save Da Planet sustainability event that took place at Southside Occupational Academy High School. Volunteers included Bears linebacker Sam Acho, alumni Jason McKie, Staley Da Bear and 30 IGS employees who spent the day planting trees and flowers, assembling compost bins, and installing rain barrels. In addition, IGS and the Bears donated $10,000 to Southside Occupational Academy for greening and sustainability programming.
IGS, the Bears, and Chicago Gateway Green came together for this partnership because of their dedication to the Chicago community and sustainability. The Save Da Planet event was a part of Chicago Gateway Green’s Day of Impact which is a large scale planting initiative that engages volunteers in beautifying and caring for their environment.
Southside Occupational Academy is a transition center for students aged 16-22 years with disabilities. Students are provided with educational training opportunities in the areas of Independent Functioning, Social Learning, Vocational, and Applied Academics. Students from Southside Occupational Academy attended the event to provide support, snacks, and beverages for the volunteers.
“We are very excited to partner with the Chicago Bears and Gateway Green on the Save Da Planet event,” said Kerri Ward, Director of Corporate Brand and Communications for IGS Energy. “Together, our employees and the Chicago Bears will be making an impact on the environment and promoting sustainability, while helping beautify the school grounds for the kids.”
