IGS Solar, LLC, a turn-key commercial and residential solar provider, recently partnered with Solect Energy, a full-service solar energy developer and installer based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, to install a 457 kW solar energy system at Mass Tank, the largest steel tank manufacturer in New England.
Dublin, OH, January 5, 2016 – IGS Solar, LLC, a turn-key commercial and residential solar provider, recently partnered with Solect Energy, a full-service solar energy developer and installer based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, to install a 457 kW solar energy system at Mass Tank, the largest steel tank manufacturer in New England.
Mass Tank entered into an agreement with IGS Solar and Solect. IGS Solar leases roof space from Mass Tank to host the array, own the system, and sell the solar electricity generated to the local municipal utility (Middleborough Gas & Electric) through a power purchase agreement (PPA). Solect will build, operate and maintain the solar array over 20 years.
Mass Tank initially considered clean energy solutions when they became one of the contracted manufacturers for the Cape Wind project, a large offshore wind farm located in Federal waters off the coast of Cape Cod. “It was through this engagement that we learned how important wind, solar and hydropower are to our future. From that point on we decided as a business to commit to helping energy issues in any way that we could,” said Carl Horstmann, president of Mass Tank.
“With successful collaboration and careful planning, we’re glad to bring solar energy to Mass Tank and help them generate electricity sustainably,” said Patrick Smith, vice president of IGS Solar.
