IGS Solar Teams Up with Madison electric Works on 4.4 MW Solar Array
Madison Electric Works (MEW) in Madison, Maine recently selected IGS Solar to install a solar energy generating facility at the Madison Area Business Park. The facility, with maximum capacity of up to 4.4 MW (enough to power about 880 homes) will be designed and installed by Advanced Solar Products and Cianbro.
Dublin, OH – Madison Electric Works (MEW) in Madison, Maine recently selected IGS Solar to install a solar energy generating facility at the Madison Area Business Park. The facility, with maximum capacity of up to 4.4 MW (enough to power about 880 homes) will be designed and installed by Advanced Solar Products and Cianbro. The project was originally developed by Clear Energy, which was then secured by IGS Solar through a public bid process.
MEW is a municipality-owned utility serving 2,500 residential, commercial, and industrial customers located in Madison and three neighboring towns. MEW contracted with IGS Solar, a turn-key commercial and residential solar provider, in an effort to help the utility integrate solar energy while helping to better control long-term energy costs for their customers. IGS Solar financed and will own and operate the system.
Once installed, the system of more than 13,000 panels will meet approximately 20% of MEW’s annual needs. “Our partnership with IGS Solar, Advanced Solar Products, Clear Energy, and Cianbro on this solar energy project will benefit local businesses and residents by helping us to continue providing them with competitive electric rates and peace of mind,” said Calvin Ames, General Manager of Madison Electric Works.
Using a third-party ownership structure, IGS Solar provides a simple Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contract to help organizations avoid the financial strains often associated with solar energy solutions. This project is the first array IGS Solar will complete in Maine.
Patrick Smith, vice president of IGS Solar stated, “We are excited about the relationship we’ve formed with Madison Electric Works, and are glad to play a role in helping them control their energy costs with solar. We look forward to being a long-standing sustainability partner well into the future.”
