IGS CNG Services Opens Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station in Greater Youngstown, Ohio
Youngstown, Ohio-- IGS CNG Services celebrated the Grand Opening of its sixth Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station. The newest station is located in the Greater Youngstown area, just off of Interstate-80 in Girard. The first of its kind in Mahoning Valley, the station will service a growing number of Ohio businesses and citizens who are converting to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) as a way to save money and use a clean, Ohio fuel.
The Youngstown station will be part of IGS CNG Services network of stations that offers CNG to the public. The other five are located in Dublin, OH (owned by the City of Dublin), Orrville, OH, Charleston, WV, Bridgeport, WV and Jane Lew, WV. The company has also announced that it is building stations in Dayton and Findlay, OH.
“Our goal is to develop a CNG infrastructure that serves businesses and individuals utilizing CNG,” said Scott White, president and CEO of IGS Energy. “Our plan responds to the emerging market demand for fast, convenient refueling of CNG vehicles. We want to create the opportunity to travel all over the region without a worry of whether you can find a location to fuel up with compressed natural gas.”
Natural gas offers an abundant, affordable, and environmentally-friendly alternative to gasoline or diesel as CNG vehicles become an increasingly popular transportation option. This station will offer a convenient location in the greater Youngstown area for drivers to refuel with CNG in approximately the same amount of time it would take at a conventional gasoline station.
Several local and state officials joined IGS for today’s ceremony, including Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel and Youngstown Mayor John McNally.
“Today is a great day for Ohio and the many small businesses and consumers that will use this and other compressed natural gas stations in the Mahoning Valley and throughout the state. Today is also an important day for our country as we continue to take steps toward energy independence,” said Treasurer Mandel.
“The gas that comes from these pumps and the other natural gas fueling stations in our state are putting Ohioans to work with good paying, high quality jobs,” said Treasurer Mandel.
“The Youngstown area is home to many companies that are increasingly interested in alternative fuels and this station gives them another choice,” said Youngstown Mayor John McNally. “Perfectly located along the Interstate-80 corridor, this station will play a vital role in servicing businesses and citizens who want to convert to compressed natural gas.”
The station is located at the Mr. Fuel truck stop, 2840 Salt Springs Road in Girard. The location is directly off of I-80 (exit 226) at Salt Springs Road and will be able to support light, medium and heavy-duty CNG fueled vehicles. Some commercial CNG vehicles include light-duty trucks and sedans to medium-duty trucks such as delivery vans and postal vehicles, to heavy-duty vehicles such as tractor trailers.
