Scott White, President and CEO of IGS, Receives 2018 Columbus Business First’s Most Admired Executives Award
Dublin, OH, October 1, 2018 – IGS is proud to announce that Scott White, president and CEO, IGS, has been honored as one of Columbus Business First’s Most Admired Executives. He was one of three C-level executives recognized in the 500-plus employees category during an awards reception held at the Hyatt Regency on Thursday, September 27, 2018.
As the leader of IGS, White leads the company’s 800-plus employees located in 22 offices serving more than one million residential and commercial customers throughout numerous states. White started the company in 1989 with his father, Marv White, and prides himself on the fact that it is a family-owned business.
Over the years, he has crafted his own unique style of leadership which is admired by IGS employees, the business community and his family.
He remains committed and connected to his executive team through day-to-day communication and interaction. White is a leader that empowers his team and trusts them to lead their respective teams. In turn, his team and employees view him as an accessible, engaged and charismatic leader.
“Keeping a pulse on what’s happening through the company allows me to be a more effective and strategic leader and collaborator,” says White. “I don’t see IGS as “my” company. Instead, I believe that I’m a caretaker and with effective organizational clarity, I work to ensure that we’re all on the same page and working toward achieving shared goals.”
As part of those shared goals, White is leading IGS through its focus on their purpose, which is to build a meaningful energy future together.
“All decisions that are made are intentional and connected to this purpose,” says White.
He is also committed to supporting the communities in which IGS does business and the very areas where employees live and work. Through his focus on making an impact, the company partners with non-profit organizations to make transformational change in all of the communities it serves.
“Scott is passionate about his role as a leader not only in the office, but also outside of the walls of our business, too,” says Jenni Kovach, chief people officer.
“He leads by example through his many board representations and encourages all of us to volunteer and help out in our communities. It’s all about making a conscious effort to be seen as a partner.” In fact, White is an active participant in the Conscious Capitalism movement, which is all about businesses focusing on purpose over profits. The way he leads IGS is based on the notion that he wants to bring out best in others and inspire them to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
White is a graduate of Ohio University is actively involved in a number of business and community groups, with current involvement in such organizations as: OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital (Development Board), Junior Achievement of Central Ohio (Board Member), Columbus Partnership (Member), Ohio Gas Association (Member), and Ohio Oil and Gas Association (Member). He has also been previously recognized by such organizations as the Dublin Irish Festival (Honorary Chair), Dublin Chamber of Commerce (Business Person of the Year), Ernst & Young (Social Entrepreneur of the Year). Additionally, White is an active volunteer, having traveled to the City of Hope school in Africa and right here in Columbus as a teacher for the in-class program with Junior Achievement of Central Ohio.
